"Before" and "After" photographs showing the results of treatment for lateral curvature of the spine. These silver prints are extremely important in the history of American surgery, as they along with others in Buckminster Brown's twenty-three-page Cases of Orthopedic Surgery (1868) were the first actual photographs used to illustrate an American Surgical Text.*
