The whole number of negative plates finished during the year has been two hundred and seventy-two, of which two hundred and twenty were of a miscellaneous character, principally illustrating the results and methods of treatment of nearly two hundred cases, many of which were of such a character as to require a great amount of labor and time for their proper representation. From these negative plates more than fourteen hundred prints have been taken, about three hundred of which yet remain on hand to fill orders.
The important work of photographing the unknown dead at the Morgue has been continued. The long term of excessively warm weather in July and August added greatly to this class of work, the advantages of which have been very fully shown by the recognition thus made in many of the fifty-two cases illustrated during the year.
Below will be found a summary of the work done, and the cost incurred:

On hand January 1, 1870.... | $282 38 | $114 2? |

The amount of work done during 1870 amounts to $1,163.20, and the money received for prints
sold has been $79.80; one-half of which has been paid to the photographer, and the other
half paid into the Central Office.
