Notes :

Tinted photograph of two hands, palm up and palm down, modeled in wax by Jules Baretta and mounted on a board with inscriptions. It is not clear whether the hands are modelled after the patient's or belong, instead, to an earler case observed by Bazin and referenced in the article. In 1867, Bazin established a museum of wax models and artist renderings at the Saint-Louis. Two years later the museum incorporated a department of photography directed by Montméja.
