A 3rd edition of this paper, illustrated with half-tone reproductions of the albumen photographs, was published in the journal, International medical magazine (1895, vol. 3, p. 731-732 ; vide: »»). This later edition also had a half-tone image of a soldier who is shown modelling Parker's kit.

Dr. Parker was a career medical officer and a veteran of the Indian Wars. His memoir titled, Personal experiences among our North American Indians from 1867 to 1885, is a very readable ethnography written from a medical perspective. He specialized in military hygiene but published also on sanitation of railways and climates for consumptives.
