Dr. Parker was a career medical officer and a veteran of the Indian Wars. His memoir titled, Personal experiences among our North American Indians from 1867 to 1885, is a very readable ethnography written from a medical perspective. He specialized in military hygiene but published also on sanitation of railways and climates for consumptives.
