The four photographic images represent intubation for an ambulatory 34 year-old liver patient with a large hydatid cyst. Revilliod was also an expert of tracheotomy and intubation for advanced diphtheria, reporting in his 1877 paper, Le croup et la trachéotomie à Genève (Paris: Union méd.), an exceptional survival rate of thirty-seven out of eighty-seven cases that he treated.
