Photographs by Berthaud of which two represent before and after images of a rhinoplastic restoration of the entire upper lip and portions of the nose using flaps from the subject's cheek. Two more subjects are represented for amputation at the shoulder. During the seven months of his military service, Brigham supervised the treatment of 500 wounded. He returned to the United States after the war and established his practice in San Francisco.
