Image of hydrocephalus which appears in the book, Dr. Ikkaku Ochi Collection, by Akimitsu Naruyama (Scala, 2004). Most of the images in the collection are the work of Tsutomu Ôta who began photographing for Okinawa prefecture hospital in the late 1880's. Dr. Ikkaku Ochi graduated from the University of Kyoto in Okinawa in 1897 and practiced medicine until 1930 in Hiroshima.
